Italian left-wing parties history
A split in the italian Democratic Party now seems imminent.  Along with Enrico Rossi and Pierluigi Bersani also Vasco Errani, another symbol of the center, it should be part of the new political entity. Another split in the long history of the Italian left-wing, characterized by the turn of new parties, electoral coalitions, spin-offs and mergers.

The Democratic Party is the political reality that has reached the highest number of parliamentarians in the two chambers. The party was born from as a vocation majority party, even if it means departing from the classic positions of the left. The Democratic Party has collected a maximum of 303 deputies in the House and 113 senators.
