French Elections 2017: Second Round Results by Department
New chapter for my data visualization story of the last French Election. After the second round Emmanuel Macron conquered the Palais de l'Élysée with 66.1%, 3 percentage points more than the optimistic predictions.

Marine Le Pen was stopped at 33.9%. As shown by the graphics, Macron conquered most of the French departments. Only Pas de Calais and Aisne are colored in blue, both conquered by Marine Le Pen with percentages between 52 and 53%.

The predictions for this election were the least predictive of French history. For a reason other than that recorded in Trump and Brexit cases. Emmanuel Macron's victory was largely underestimated. In actual results, the gap has expanded around 32 percentage points. An error in the forecast of about 10 points.
