Travelers 2016
The Bank of Italy carries out a sample survey on tourism every year, since 1996, based on interviews and counts of travelers residents and non-residents in transit to the Italian border.

A total of 64583 thousand Italians traveled during 2016. It is a number greater than the one recorded during 2015, when only 62870 thousand travelers left Italy for a foreign country. At he same time a total of 82873 thousands tourists traveled to Italy during 2016. It is a number greater than the one recorded during 2015, when only 81635 thousand travelers came to Italy from their countries.
